This site is your conduit to what is happening in our physical education classes at Nicolet Elementary School in Green Bay, Wisconsin. This is not an official Green Bay Public Schools site.
In this activity the students work together to find five like objects that are hidden underneath a "turtle shell". Before the student can look under the shell, he or she must toss a beanbag into a basket. If he or she makes it, then he or she gets to look under the shell. If the object matched the one he needs then he takes it back to his group. If it is a different object, then it stays under the shell. If the shot is missed, then the student cannot look under the shell. This cooperative activity works on a number of skills besides throwing. The students need to come up with a strategy to find the objects. Also, memory skills and communication skills really come into play, since the teammates can tell each other which shells to pick or not pick.

This week the fourth and fifth grade students learned a fast paced game called flickerball. It combines some of the skills of football, basketball, and even soccer. We are getting ready to start some basketball skills, however with the snow day this week and a concert, some of the 4th and 5th grade classes haven't had physical education class yet. Every grade will be working on basketball skills next week.
The kindergarten, first and second grade students participated in a cooperative memory game activity this week. I will post some pictures/video of the activity on Friday!
